There are a growing number of behaviourists who have or are gaining the education and experience to deal with dog behaviour problems but not quite as many who are able to help with cat behaviour issues. When dealing with cats it is important to realise that they are not small dogs wearing a different style of fur coat, but a completely separate species with a very different behaviour repertoire.

Much useful information can be learnt from books, the internet or even television shows, but every cat; every pet/owner relationship and every behaviour problem is different. What may seem to be an effective treatment for one cat could actually result in a worsening of the current problem and even the development of other, possibly more serious behaviours in another individual, even if the problem behaviours appear very similar. By treating you and your cat as individuals and exploring all factors influencing your cat's behaviour, we may best understand the underlying causes of the behavioural problem and so in turn apply the most appropriate, effective and gentle means of treatment. Contact your veterinary surgeon or call 01225 870105/864463 if you are experiencing any of the following behaviour problems with your cat:

Indoor urine spraying
Aggression (to people or other cats)
Nervousness/anxiety
Under or over attachment
House training issues
Furniture scratching
Over grooming
Excessive vocalisation
