Trudi Atkinson and a happy dog!About Trudi..
As well as being a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist, Trudi is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, having worked in veterinary practice for over fifteen years before setting up a Behaviour Referral Practice near Bath. In 1996 she was elected onto the committee of the Companion Animal Behaviour Therapy Study Group, a veterinary based forum affiliated to the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, and took up the voluntary post of veterinary nursing liaison officer until 2003. In 1999 she gained the Postgraduate Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling from Southampton University and the same year was accepted as a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors.

Trudi Atkinson and a well behaved cat!!In 2002, after concerns about the number of insufficiently qualified and inexperienced people setting themselves up as dog or cat behaviourists a Certification Scheme for Clinical Animal Behaviourists was set up governed by The Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour alongside representatives of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the British Psychological Society and the International Society for Applied Ethology. Trudi was one of the very first to be accepted for certification.

Trudi also occasionally writes and lectures on the subject of companion animal behaviour and has written several articles for the veterinary press and contributed to major BSAVA publications for veterinary nurses. She has given a number talks on both dog and cat behaviour including presentations at a major veterinary congress.
